Join well-known and respected jazz/R&B artist Roy Ayers, along with supporting acts, vocalist Chandra Currelley and saxophonist Yancyy, for a concert to benefit Positive Growth, Inc., one of Atlanta’s premier residential and community-based mental health service organizations. Ayers has influenced and inspired the music world throughout his 40+ years as a vibraphonist, and his songs have been sampled by music industry greats like Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu, and Tupac.
The Children’s Museum of Atlanta. Sunday, 3:00 p.m. Admission: $12.75. Activity intended for children ages 8 and under.
Treat your child to the world of books with the Read It program. This half-hour story-time will celebrate Hanukkah, and encourage young children to pick up a book and explore. Ms. Read It will host this session; the creative storyteller will also be armed with books and a special souvenir for her audience.
Virginia Highlands. Saturday, 5:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. $20.
Dress up in your trusty Santa outfit, holiday sweater or other festive gear and head out to Virginia Highlands. The Highlands Holiday Stumble starts at Diesel, and runs through local bars like Neighbor’s Pub, Hand in Hand, Dark Horse Tavern and more! Enjoy a complementary holiday drink or shot at each participating bar. Many of the pubs will have special food and drink offerings. And while you are feeling merry, spread some cheer… Diesel will be collecting toys for Toys for Tots. A portion of proceeds from the Holiday Stumble will also benefit Toys for Tots.
Diesel Filling Station. Friday, 8:00 p.m. Free.
Nothing says the holidays like the undead! Well, some may say… Stagger on in to the Diesel Filling Station this weekend for some zombie holiday fun. Be sure to bring in a canned food donation for the Atlanta Food Bank. Ten canned goods will even get you a free shot. What other holiday party features an undead Santa?
The Georgian Terrace. Monday, 8:00 p.m. $20.
Who says you can’t wear white after labor day? Don your favorite white ensemble and enjoy delicious food, celebrity appearances, raffle prizes and more at the Winter White Party. All funds raised benefit the American Cancer Society.
Buckhead Theatre. Saturday, 8:30 p.m. – 1:30 a.m. $35.
Last year, the Buckhead Tacky Christmas Party drew nearly 1,000 attendees and raised $3,500 for Toys for Tots, and the second annual event aims to attract an even larger crowd and raise closer to $10,000 this year. Break out your tackiest holiday ensemble, enjoy live music from popular local band Yacht Rock, and party the night away for a great cause!
