What to do in Atlanta This Weekend

Hello, local readers! Welcome to the first edition of our weekend guide, where we share our favorite activities in and around Atlanta this weekend and point out where you can get free stuff along the way.

Taste of Alpharetta

Old Milton Parkway at Wills Park. Thursday, 5-10. Admission free, $1.50-$3.50/sample.

Taste food, watch chefs compete, and listen to live music on the lawn. Look for restaurants offering free merch.

Atlanta Braves Game

Turner Field. Friday, 7:30pm. $12+

Atlanta may be 16-18, but the D-backs only have 14 wins to 21 losses so the odds are in our favor. Not to mention the Braves are on a 3-game winning streak. If the idea of an evening spent watching two under-par teams with a hotdog in one hand and an overpriced beer in another doesn’t strike your fancy, maybe the possibility for some free Braves promotional products will.

Green Market

Piedmont Park. Saturday 9am-1pm. Free. Fresh flowers, locally grown produce, and other sustainable goods.

Check out a live cooking demonstration at 11 with Gerry Klaskala, owner and executive chef of Aria. If the prospect of delicious food samples and jazz music isn’t enough to lure you in, expect to find promotional products from sponsor Kaiser Permanente.

Suwanee Town Center Park. Saturday, 12-7. Free.

The 5th Annual Star 94 Woofstock is going to be a zoo — literally. Bring dogs, cats, birds, ferrets — as long as it’s on a leash — to the “Pet Party In The Park.” Snap a picture in the pet/owner photo booths and enter your pet into the “Smallest Dog Contest,” “Biggest Dog Contest,” or “Cutest Pet Contest” for prizes.
