Rubik’s Cube – More Than a Promotional Toy

Invented in 1974, the Rubik’s Cube (named for its Hungarian creator Erno Rubik) is considered to be the world’s best-selling toy with 350 million cubes sold worldwide as of January 2009. Custom printed with your company’s name and logo on one side, this little puzzle also makes a great promotional toy.

“The Space Invader” artist is now using Rubik’s Cubes to create his next masterpieces for a project entitled “Rubikcubism.” “The Space Invader” is a French street artist who started “invading” cities around the world in the 1990s, installing mosaics inspired by the arcade video game Space Invaders. The themes for his work have since expanded but his mosaic technique remains the same and the colored squares of the Rubik’s Cubes are the perfect mediums to mimic the pixilated style of the game’s graphics.

My favorite promotional toy – in case you’ve already deleted your Facebook account.

Did you know that the word count for Facebook’s new privacy policy exceeds that of the United States constitution? In recent months Facebook has revised its policy to make most personal account information public by default, and while an opt out is available, one must click through more than 50 privacy buttons, which then require choosing among a total of more than 170 options. It’s no surprise that users are angry and growing controversy surrounding the privacy matter, or lack thereof, has caused many Facebookers to protest – there are currently 4,562 confirmed guests for the event “Facebook Protest” (that is ironically hosted on Facebook) whereby on June 6th attendees are asked to, “commit to not logging in or interacting with Facebook in any way,” – and some are even deactivating their accounts altogether – there are 12,450 committed Facebook quitters according to the site www.quitfacebookday.com. But let’s be honest, those numbers are like peanuts compared to the 400 million users that apparently use the site worldwide and Facebook will likely continue to dominate the Internet.

For those of you still a part of the social network, be sure to go to Pinnacle Promotions’ fan page and check out my new favorite promotional toy.
