Promotional Products to Save Your Snowmageddonpocalypse

The Pinnacle Promotions office is located in the Atlanta area. We survived, along with our friends, family and colleagues, through one of the worst snowstorms in recent memory. Call it what you like: Snowmageddon, Snowpocalypse, or more accurately Snowmageddonpocalypse. People were stranded in their cars for anywhere from 1 – 20 hours. Children were stranded at schools, and worse on school buses and brave teachers and good Samaritans kept them safe and warm. There are many theories as to why this happened. And as there are many blame theories, there are that many stories or more of miraculous and random acts of kindness and selflessness.

Pinnacle Promotions was uniquely equipped to continue servicing our clients during the storm. Our account teams were able to address our customer’s needs through proprietary tools and resources, and make the necessary adjustments to make sure our clients weren’t left out in the cold.

In talking with many who were stuck or stranded, we heard over and over about the items that they really wished they had with them to weather the storm.

Some of the top comments we heard:

-“I wish I had a blanket in the car.” A customized throw or blanket would be the perfect winter item to have in the car at all times and be ready in the summer to host a picnic. Screen shot 2014-01-30 at 1.54.24 PM

-“Wish I had an external phone charger. I didn’t expect my phone to die and not be able to use my car charger.” A branded portable power source is a price-effective and compact way to come to the rescue of your clients and employees. charger

-“Can’t wait to get home and have a warm cup of coffee.” Many of those who spent hours on the roadways trying to get home were relieved to walk into their homes and grab their favorite mug to sit down for a drink to warm them through. mug

-And here at Pinnacle, we grabbed promotional ice scrapers on our way out the door to help us get the snow and ice off our windshields for the drive home. tlk1500

And lastly, a special thanks to all of the emergency service personnel, road crews and good Samaritans who helped those who were waylaid by the storm.

Take the Party To Go

The leaves are changing here in Atlanta and that means I’m scheduling my yearly pilgrimage into the mountains of North Carolina for some great views of the changing foliage and to do some light hiking and sightseeing.

We have one specific campground that we’ve made part of our tradition to stop and enjoy a nice river-side lunch by. This year instead of dashing to the nearest convenience store because no one remembered to buy and pack food beforehand, I’m bringing along one of our awesome promotional coolers.

I’ve had my eye on the Igloo Party to Go Cooler ever since I assisted with the filming of the product video. Not only does it have a great name (Party to Go sounds like a themed party the local college I used to dj at had once), it’s also roomy enough for 20 cans. I plan to fill it up with a few bottles of cider, that I’ll open with the handy-dandy attached bottle opener, and some sandwiches and some deserts. Items like coolers are a great way to become parts of your customers or clients best memories and give you plenty of exposure when they are trekked around. Useful and sturdy, two of my favorite characteristics of any long-lasting promotional product.

Picnic Refreshers

Summer is starting to wind down, and while that may be unfortunate for the school aged kids, it’s great for emptying the local parks. For me, empty parks mean afternoons spent in a sundress, a floppy hat, and oversized sunglasses while snacking on whatever fits into my tote bag and is easy to haul along with my dog. But now with picnic themed promotional items from Pinnacle, my picnics are going to get an upgrade before the summer is over.

So far my favorite is the Beach Picnic Pack. Despite the name, it doesn’t have to be used just at the beach. The insulated compartment means that my food will stay warm or cool and comes with a complete picnic set for 4.

Best of all, since it comes in three bright summery colors, no matter what color I chose, it’ll match my favorite summertime outfits.

Schwinn Bicycles and Custom Sports Bottles for Summer Fun

When was the last time you spent an afternoon riding a Schwinn bicycle, sipping from a custom sports bottle, and waving to your neighbors with the wind blowing through your hair? I’m guessing, for most of our readers, not recently, although I know my coworker Acree happens to be an avid cyclist.

Nostalgia marketing is a powerful technique used by marketers to capitalize on the sentimental associations that their target audiences harbor for certain products and/or experiences. At 23, I rarely find myself feeling nostalgic about my past, but last Sunday afternoon, as I ventured out to Atlanta’s Virginia Highlands neighborhood to enjoy the beautiful weather with my dog and my sister, I spied a father on the sidewalk across the street teaching his young daughter how to ride her bicycle without training wheels.

For more about Schwinn’s advertising campaign and my latest personal wave of nostalgia, keep reading…

Apply the promotional sunscreen and get outside!

There is nothing I like better than the all two brief weeks before and after summer, when the weather is just right to enjoy the sunny afternoon outside. With numerous outdoor festivals, concerts and events going on each weekend, it’s easy to find an excuse to get outside.

When planning for your spring and summer events and promotions, consider bringing a little of the outdoors into your campaigns. Promotional sunscreen and other outdoor related products are an inexpensive and thoughtful way to reach out to your employees and clients during the spring and summer seasons.

Where Have You Spotted John Deere Promotional Products?

redjarHaving been born and bred in Georgia, I am no stranger to the distinctive green and yellow logo featured on John Deere promotional products. Okay, so I grew up in the metro Atlanta area, where farmland is sparse and suburban residents have no need for heavy duty John Deere agricultural equipment to manicure their manageable front yards… Nevertheless, I had peers who would not leave home without their trademark John Deere trucker hats. I always knew that the brand had a longstanding, loyal following in the Southeast, but during my teen years, I viewed it as more of a trend- wearing John Deere paraphernalia made people my age appear “rugged” and “outdoorsy”. Looking back, I wonder if even half of the John Deere-clad teenagers I knew had ever stood within 3 feet of an actual tractor!

An article on BrandFreak.com discusses John Deere’s current campaign, called “What Will You Create.” It features actual customers who have accomplished amazing agricultural feats using John Deere equipment. For example, take Larry Carlson, a New Yorker who transformed a 5 acre potato field into a Tuscan-inspired panorama of gardens and mazes using tractors made by- you guessed it- John Deere. Step 1: Buy Promotional Products. Step 2: Win a Trip to Playa del Carmen, Mexico!

Every day when I arrive at work and turn on my computer, I am met with my desktop background of a sandy white beach, crystal clear ocean, and palm trees swaying in the breeze… Sadly, as soon as all of my icons and folders finish loading, I am reminded that I do, in fact, have a job to do and can’t afford to fantasize about an imaginary trip to the Bahamas all morning- the serene photo is as close as I am going to get to oceanfront R&R anytime soon!

For one lucky Pinnacle customer, the warm weather and peaceful lull of the waves await- congratulations to the winner of our Mexican Getaway Contest, Anna Glasa from Royse and Brinkmeyer!

Anna will enjoy 6 days/5 nights in beautiful Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, courtesy of Pinnacle Promotions. Her prize includes airfare for two & accommodations at a luxury condo in Playa Del Carmen, plus a Pinnacle Vacation Gift Pack full of beach-themed necessities.

I don’t know about you, but I am definitely jealous- hopefully Anna will take lots of pictures of her once-in-a-lifetime Mexican Getaway experience to share with us. Regardless, have an amazing trip, Anna, and to all of our customers/blog readers who are now green with envy: keep an eye out for more incredible contests from Pinnacle Promotions!

Cool use of custom sunglasses

Alternative Apparel tweeted today about their new custom sunglasses. There are several things I love about this promotion:

1. The product itself. Hip, stylish sunglasses are perfect for a hip, stylish company. And their logo looks great on the side of the frames. I used to have some Sierra Mist branded sunglasses that looked like these, and people would comment on them all the time.

2. The timing. It’s smart to order spring apparel now, when you have plenty of time to get your shipment, check out the product and make sure it’s what you want. Alternative has a month or two to organize the promotion and find out if they need to reorder. When the sun hits Atlanta they’ll be ready, staring you down in their promotional shades.

3. The use of social media. I wrote an article recently about reconciling promotional products and social media, and Alternative has done just that here. They’ve used social media to support a traditional marketing effort, by advertising their own advertising products! (And the snake eats its tail.) They’ve got me, a consumer, excited about their upcoming marketing campaign, and here I am giving them free, grassroots advertising. Excellent (and simple!) integrated marketing. Kudos, Alternative Apparel. Now can you get me some of those shades?
