Hay Rides and Face Painting at Scottsdale Farms

Scottsdale Farms in Alpharetta. Saturday, 11am – 5pm; Sunday, 2pm – 5pm. Free.

Get the family in gear this weekend and head to Scottsdale Farms. Pick the perfect pumpkin, take a ride through the hay, and get your faces painted at this local farm and garden. There’s no better way to enjoy the Fall season!

First Annual Atlanta Humane Society Fur Fest

Atlanta Humane Society on Howell Mill Road. Saturday, 11am – 4pm. Free.

This event is the Humane Society’s way of saying “thank you” to the Atlanta community for all of the support and encouragement it has given the organization for the last 137 years. It is free of charge, so adults, kids and pets can enjoy spending a few hours with Humane Society staff, volunteers and animals. Activities include crafts for kids, cupcake walk (for humans and animals), face painting, games, raffles for promotional giveaways, food, music and more. Also note that the Humane Society will be offering $10 microchipping and $10 rabies shots for your four-legged friends.

Oktoberfest

Helen. Now thru October 31. Prices vary.

Throughout the month of October, the quaint Bavarian-style town of Helen celebrates Oktoberfest. Town guests can enjoy authentic German music, dancing and food, not to mention a plentiful selection of festive brews. Grab your stein and viel Spass!

La Bohème

Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center. Friday, 8pm; Sunday, 3pm. $21.70-$130.19.

Get some culture while attending the Atlanta Opera’s season opening performance of Puccini’s La Bohème. The story centers on six young and poor Parisian artists and their friendships and relationships as they struggle to make it by with what life has dealt them. In Italian with English supertitles.

Annual Atlanta Pride Parade

Route begins at the MARTA Civic Center Station and ends at Piedmont Park. Sunday, 1pm. Free.

Join tens of thousands of spectators as they celebrate their pride through the streets of Midtown in the largest parade in the City of Atlanta.  The parade is actually only one event in the weekend of festivities for the 40th annual Atlanta Pride Festival that include a kickoff party at the Georgia Aquarium, a literary showcase, a starlight cabaret, and a whole lot more.

Killer Creek Harley-Davidson Swap Meet & Chili Cook Off

11480 Alpharetta Highway, Roswell. Saturday, 10am – 4pm. Free.

Motorcycle lovers rejoice. This Saturday, you can sell, trade and buy motorcycle parts, accessories, clothing, and even biker art at the H-D swap meet. Make sure to stick around for live music from Blind Five O, a Chili Cook-Off from 12 – 4 and gourmet hot dogs from Michael the Hot Dog Man. There will also be a blood drive from 11am – 3pm.
