On Monday’s season premiere of “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” now in its 25th and final season, Oprah announced that all 300 members of her live studio audience would be receiving an all expenses paid, eight day trip to Australia! Another perk she decided to include? Tickets to a December taping of her show at the world-famous Sydney Opera House. Oprah’s lists of “Favorite Things,” which she generously gives to audiences semi-annually, have included promotional travel items like flip video cameras and plush travel blankets in the past, but this is definitely one of the most prestigious, extreme gifts she has ever given to her audience members. Oprah Winfrey, who has sparked many hit retail items by including them in her semi-annual lists of “Favorite Things,” is no stranger to the world of promotional products. The mere mention of an item on her show is enough to cause it to fly off the shelves, and Australia is spending big bucks to take advantage of the clout associated with “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” In fact, the Australian government is shelling out an estimated $2.8 million to bring the show to its country! Tourism Australia expects to see a significant rise in Australia’s popularity as an American tourist destination due to Oprah’s ringing endorsement.
