With all the news media surrounding Rod Blagojevich’s trial, the former Illinois governor’s lawyers probably don’t need any help drawing attention to their firms. Blagojevich was arrested in December 2008 with charges that included conspiracy, wire fraud, extortion, and lying to the FBI. He was also accused of saying he held influence over President Obama’s recently vacated Senate seat and he allegedly discussed how much money it would take to bribe him. On Tuesday, following a two-month trial and 14 days of deliberation, the jury found Blagojevich guilty of lying to federal agents. The jury was split on all other counts, with a lone juror refusing to convict the former governor of any other crimes. That’s all the news for now, but the story will continue to unfold, as prosecutors plan to retry the case.
