Product Pick of the Week: Seasonal Products for Halloween and Fall

Posted on September 23rd, 2011

It’s officially fall and (thankfully!) the weather is starting to get cooler. I’ve noticed a few of the fabulous fall colors starting to show in the trees, and I can definitely feel the beginnings of fall in the air. As corn mazes and fall festivals begin to pop up our Weekend Guide and personal calendars, I can’t help but think about all the fun that comes with the change in the season.

I personally have to admit I’m in love with Autumn. It’s by far my favorite time of the year here. The colors and cool breeze are the best. And without going into too much detail about my craziness, I’m a hugely big sucker for Halloween. I love the costumes, the decorations and of course the cute little goblins and ghouls. I guess it doesn’t hurt that there is always an abundance of candy left over after the 31st as well!

My family has always gone all out for the occasion so I guess it comes with the territory that I would try to incorporate the festivities into my marketing efforts as well. Of course for me, my Halloween planning starts with finding perfect seasonal products to fit within my marketing mix.

Nobody can argue the popularity of holidays with international origins on American soil. Cinco de Mayo, Halloween, Christmas, and let’s not forget everybody’s favorite reason to consume German beer each Fall: Oktoberfest. Despite its name, Oktoberfest is actually a 16-18 day festival held annually in Munich, Bavaria, and Germany from September through the first weekend in October. It has been a significant aspect of Bavarian culture since 1810 and has spread to other regions of the world in recent years.

While Oktoberfest is most commonly associated with beer consumption and promotional glassware, there are many lesser known traditions tied to the holiday, too.

Posted on May 27th, 2011

"picnic for one" bentoMemorial Day weekend is widely regarded as the unofficial start of summer, and a lot of people (myself included!) will celebrate by packing up a picnic and heading for a local park, beach, or their own backyard. If you’re among the masses, make sure you take along some promotional picnic products to make your outdoor meal a successfully delicious one.

When you’re going on a picnic, there are a few things you can do ahead of time to make sure you’re well-equipped. Cutting, packaging, and otherwise preparing your food before you leave will make the meal easy to assemble when hunger strikes. You’ll also want to check the weather forecast beforehand so you can be prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws at you, and don’t forget to apply sunscreen and bug spray as soon as you arrive at your destination.

Here’s a checklist of promotional picnic products you might want to pack up before you hit the road:
__ Blanket, towel, or tablecloth for a clean “table” away from home
__ Easy-to-use (and easy-to-clean) dishes, silverware and drinkware
__ Cooler, especially if you’re taking a day trip or planning on having cold drinks or dessert
__ Wine/bottle opener, ice cream scoop, pizza cutter, or whatever kitchen utensils you may need

Support “Don’t Fry Day” by Distributing Promotional Sunscreen

Posted on May 26th, 2011

promotional sunscreenPeople often connect Memorial Day with trips to the beach, family barbecues, boat rides, and festivals. And, what do all of these events have in common? People are outside…all day!

As a way to promote National Skin Cancer Awareness Month and sun safety, the National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention created “Don’t Fry Day.” On Friday, May 27th, they hope to help consumers remember the importance of protecting their skin from the sun and sunless tanning booth’s harmful UV rays. And, by distributing promotional sunscreen you can do your part in spreading their message.

Before your co-workers part for the holiday weekend, consider handing out promotional sunscreen and an educational fact about sun protection. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, exposure to the sun’s UV radiation is associated with 90% of non-melanoma skin cancers and 65% of melanomas. By simply distributing promotional sunscreen, you can help your colleagues significantly reduce their risk of developing the deadliest form of skin cancer.

Protect Festivalgoers from the Elements with Promotional Umbrellas

Posted on April 20th, 2011

promotional umbrellas

When the weather warms up and the flowers and trees begin to bloom, Atlantans know that we can count on having a handful of festivals to choose from every weekend. From Inman Park to Alpharetta, Decatur to Downtown, it seems that every neighborhood has its own signature celebration that draws thousands of people to a single park, street, or city block every year.

While themes of the area’s festivals vary widely – holidays, food items, and local flora & fauna all take a turn in the spotlight – they do have a number of things in common: they provide locals and out-of-towners alike with the opportunity to come together over a common subject to enjoy and benefit the host community. Providing festivalgoers with a place to sit back, relax, and enjoy the event is a duty that all festival committees share, and one that is particularly important during the hot, sunny Saturdays that characterize an Atlanta summer. Setting up tables topped with promotional umbrellas is a great way to make sure that attendees stick around and enjoy themselves.

Trees, tents, and promotional umbrellas can all provide some much-appreciated relief from sunshine (and rain) within festival grounds, allowing visitors to take a break without having to miss any sights and sounds – at the Atlanta Dogwood Festival’s Beer Garden, pictured above, festivalgoers could enjoy their food and drinks underneath Corona Light promotional umbrellas near the event’s main stage.
