I recently had to answered the question, “What are three things you couldn’t live without?” and the first thing that came to mind was my iPhone. Cell phones and smartphones have become such an integral part of everyday life that I just can’t imagine life without them. Kids these days (wow, I feel old saying that) get their first phone in grade school! I personally got my first cell phone when I graduated college…but I digress. The point is that almost everyone has one and the market for promotional cell phone accessories is booming. Probably the most essential cell phone accessory is a cell phone case, but I would argue that the close second is the cell phone holder.
I have had the same silver cell phone holder on my desk for 3 years. I love that my iPhone has a nice, upright resting place next to my computer. At the first buzz, ding or vibration I can easily see who’s trying to communicate with me. I’ve been thinking it might be time for me to get a new cell phone holder, so I started shopping around and this is what I came up with…

Now that it’s August, I guess it’s time to start thinking about back to school, football and fall fashion. Where did the summer go? It has been an exceptionally hot summer so I am actually looking forward to the weather cooling down.
In a couple of weeks my kids will start at a new school, so being a Merchandiser at Pinnacle, naturally I have back to school promotional items on my mind. There have been some really unique products that came out this year for the education industry and I’ve been pinning like crazy to our Back to School Pinterest board.
My 5 Favorite School Promotional Items this year are…
1) Safe T Scissors
The Safe T Scissors have a rounded edge and plastic blades so children won’t get injured using them. Very useful product that won’t be thrown in the trash.

“What kind of artwork do I need?” and “What if I don’t have artwork?”
Many first time purchasers of promotional products or imprinted apparel have lots of questions regarding their artwork or their logo files for their order. We often get asked, “what kind of artwork do I need?”
The simple answer is an Adobe Illustrator file (vector art with paths) in an AI or EPS format with all fonts converted to outlines or a vector PDF. Then there is the grey area where “this might work” comes into play… do you have an Adobe Photoshop file in .EPS or .TIF format at 300 dpi resolution or a Word, Power Point or Corel Draw file…that might work, send it to us and we’ll evaluate and let you know. Often times we can recreate your logo quickly with little or no charge.
Now we also get the question, “what if I don’t have artwork?” Don’t be embarrassed, we’d be glad to help you! We have a talented in-house art department that is available to create a design/logo for you. For simple jobs we may not even charge you for this service. However, our standard art fee is $50/hr.
Bottom line: It’s best to have an Illustrator file with your logo/art, but send us what you have and we’ll work with you! Don’t hesitate to pick up the phone and talk to us.

So we’ve all seen promotional mints, mints in imprinted receptacles from metal tins to plastics containers all in varying shapes, colors, and sizes. But have you seen the actual imprint or logo on a mint?! A couple of years ago M&M’s started offering personalization on their candies; a co-worker at Pinnacle, Kim actually did this for her wedding and it was so fun to actually see the bride and groom’s faces on the colorful candy treats. Now we are able to offer this same fun concept on a refreshing mint!

After reading, The Fastest Growing and Dying Industries in America, 2012 Edition I was surprised to see that Pilates and Yoga Studios are one of the fastest growing industries in America according to a report from IBISWorld. I guess I wasn’t too surprised because I see yoga studios all over town and I am constantly receiving Groupon and other daily deal emails featuring them. I have been bitten by the yoga bug and have started taking classes so I have seen what all the buzz is about. With two kids and a busy schedule I don’t get there as much as I want, but when I do get to class I find it works out my body and mind. I leave feeling refreshed and empowered.
With the rapid growth in this industry, Yoga and Pilates studios need to promote themselves to stand out from the competition. Here is my list of 5 Yoga Promotional Items to Brand Your Studio.
1) Promotional Fitness Yoga Mat
A yoga mat is essential for class, why not offer a yoga mat and carrying case with your studio name and logo. Perfect gift with purchase for new members.

- Image source: American Mug and Stein
Last week I read an NPR article about how Starbucks is supporting an Ohio-based mug maker, American Mug and Stein instead of purchasing their mugs overseas. It really made me happy to hear that a company of Starbucks’ stature is buying USA made promotional items and making a huge difference to a small town pottery business and the city of East Liverpool, Ohio.
American Mug and Stein was on the verge of shutting down, when unexpectedly they received their largest order to date from Starbucks.

I was shopping the other day at my favorite store, Target when I happened upon an end-cap display of Huggies® Jeans Diapers, diapers that look like designer jeans. As a new mom, I did a double take and went in for closer inspection. The diapers have a faux denim look with back pockets, belt loops and a faux leather patch with the Huggies® logo on them. Is this custom apparel for a baby that is necessary? Of course not, but they seemed to be flying off the shelves. There were only 2 boxes left! I contemplated purchasing a box, but instead I whipped out my phone and took a picture so I could send it to all my mommy friends (and now blog about it).

Tonight is the Season 10 finale of Dancing With The Stars and there is much anticipation to see who will win the coveted mirrored disco ball. My vote is for Pussycat Dolls singer, Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough. I think she is by far the best dancer out there, even if she does sing and dance for a living. Her dance to “Lady in Red” was spectacular and Carrie Anne Inaba needs to get off illegal lift patrol… the dance was over! I digress.
One thing I’ve never understood is the blood, sweat and tears that these dancers and celebrities risk all for what looks like a $20 disco ball? Just goes to show you that it’s not all about the actual prize. Here at Pinnacle we are always amazed at what an inexpensive giveaway can actually do for a business. People just LOVE free stuff, sometimes it doesn’t matter what it is.
